Located at the northern fringe of the magnificent Freycinet National Park, the Friendly Beaches camping ground probably doesn’t quite get its name from the safeness of the beach on which it lies. This does however turn into an advantage for surfers. A National Park pass is required at this campground.
The Friendly Beaches camping ground is reasonably easy to access. Turn east off C302, 9km south of the A3/C302 junction. The 2.7km road into the campsite is a gravel road that can easily be accessed by a two-wheel drive and caravan.
The camping ground offers around forty individual campsites. The whole campsite is consistently good, so there is really no ‘best spot’.
Surfing is a popular pastime for campers. Fishing is also quite popular, however, swimming is not recommended.
Best Time To Go
The proximity of the campground to the beach makes it more appropriate to visit this campsite in the warmer months.
