Located in northern Tasmania, just south of Devonport, the Lake McKenzie camping ground provides campers with an amazing opportunity to camp beside the lakeside and utilise the benefits the lake has to offer. Be sure to do the Devils Gullet walk for some amazing canyon views. Note the site only caters for caravans beside the dam wall.
From Liena, head south on Mersey Forest road (C171) then veer left on Lake McKenzie road after around 500m. Continue on the road for 22km until you reach the lake. The road is a reasonable dirt road but is subject to flooding.
Given the limited number of campsites, pick the best spot available.
As detailed above, the Devils Gullet walk is a must if you plan on visiting this campsite. Be sure to utilise the lake for swimming, boating and fishing. Jet skis are not allowed.
Best Time To Go
The campsite can get very very cold and is subject to snowing, so it would be wise to visit in the summer months.
