Access

Getting to Wood Point is an adventure in itself. While the road is navigable by a 2WD vehicle, it is not suitable for caravans due to its narrow and rocky sections. Here’s how you can reach Wood Point from Orbost:

  • Continue following Garnetts Track, then turn left onto Wood Point Track, which leads directly to the campground.
  • Start on the main street of Orbost and turn at the Club Hotel, heading west on McLeod Street.
  • Once out of town, McLeod Street transitions into “B” Road, leading you through the scenic farmland of the Snowy River flats.
  • You will encounter a cattle grid followed by a gate—be sure to leave the gate as you found it.
  • You are now on Garnetts Track. After crossing Wibenduck Creek, you will pass the last of the private properties before entering the State Forest.

The Wood Point campground features approximately ten individual campsites. For the best experience, set up camp near the picnic table, which offers a prime location for both relaxation and convenience.
